The selection is ok, the products are pricey but the cashier was the worst. Lane 2 on Monday at 1045am. Please educate her on customer service. She rang in the 4 six packs of diet coke. She told me to put them in the cart. All other groceries were being put in the cart by a very nice elderly lady. As I put in the cart, one slipped out of my hand, and one of the 6 cans broke open. I said i will go get a replacement. When i came back, she asked for it to be scanned. I said no, it was to replace the other one. I watched her and she went back and changed it from 4 to 5 6 packs. I said i am only paying for 4 that I am leaving with, not 5. I had over 500.00 in groceries. I said I was not paying for 5. Get a manager here to fix it, or you can spend an hour putting everything back. She did not offer bags or a box for an overflowing grocery cart. Someone did bring bags over to her, and she could not bend over to put them away. She told her, not ask kindly, the bagging lady to do it.

Solomon’s LUCAYA change a lot but in a good way, before was lacking any good customer service but now it feels like a family market. The employees are much more friendlier and very helpful, I now love going to this store BUT that one in town OMG need to invest in some serious customer service training for employees

I am glad that I didn’t review this Solomon’s location a few months back before Solomon’s did a remodel and cleaning up of this location, because the rating would have been much lower.

I’m glad to see that the powers that be saw fit that Grand Bahamians and visitors alike deserved a more polished store to shop in. The place now is up to the standards that the Solomon’s brand holds-especially the New Providence locations.

This store is closer to the likes of stores like Publix, and hopefully one day will get to the standard of a Harris Teeter or Wegmans.

As far as the ambiance, the remodel did a huge service to this location because prior to it, it looked run down and as if no effort was put into maintaining this location, especially compared to the much nicer locations in Nassau.

The aisles are clean and organized now. You can easily locate most items. As the above menu/directional product boards are still not complete/filled in.

Cashier availability seems to be consistent with the flow of business most days.

The trolley area is kept nice, but be sure to ask the attendant (politely, because we were raised right) to sanitize your cart before using because there is no guarantee that it has been already done. Especially if it’s extremely busy and carts are in demand. The way covid19 is set up and these dangerous variants, one can’t be too careful and the attendant is a nice young man who will gladly sanitize your cart for you.

Here’s why they received a 4 out of 5:
Harder to find items, especially for specific &/or special diets are available here, which...we LOVE to see!

From gluten free, to plant based milk...even down to Irish Sea moss, y’all! Talk about a win! Non dairy ice cream you can also find if you aren’t a fan of lactose or dairy, they also carry the vegan cheese and vegan sour cream, to plant based hot dogs ?
Yes, the person who does the Inventory and ordering here, has done a superb job in making sure these items are carried in store.

Now, will the items you are looking for be available? That is the million dollar question bc it seems with certain things, it’s hit or miss from week to week and you have to hope that it’s available, before having to shop elsewhere.

I’m so very grateful for the brilliant Produce manager who started ordering key limes. I have searched every single store on island, & Solomon’s is the ONLY place that I was able to source some. As grateful as I am to find them here, this is one of the inconsistently available items that I can find one week, go back the next and nothing. This seems to be the trend.

So, I’m begging the Solomon’s & key lime gods to please have these beneficial citrus babies on hand more consistently.
Item availability is what is keeping the star count at 4, instead of 5.

Good selection but not always consistent. After several months, I noticed that they are improving in being consistent in having the same product week in and out. They have added an organic section to the store, that's great.

Spacious, clean, wide isles and helpful staff. Solomons Port Lucaya is a one-stop shop for your grocery needs. Even though multiple businesses are in the plaza, parking is also a breeeze. You won't be disappointed in this store. If you forgot grocery bags, you can also purchase bags at this store also. This is also a tourist hub for those looking for selective items

Nice store for the Bahamas. American products in stock but with Island prices. Take your own sacks or buy theirs.
